Summer Schedule
We have several events on this summer. All welcome for all except the handicap knockout where teams will obviously be selected ahead of time by the respective captains.
If you’re interested in the braille tournament or the rapid play tournament then make sure you let us know so we have an idea of numbers.
Monday 12th August – Guess The Move – this will be a friendly competition where we go through a high level game and ask everyone what move should be played next with points for correct answers.
Monday 26th August – Braille tournament – ever wondered how visually impaired people play chess? Steve will be bringing along a few braille boards so we can have a little tournament where you can only see the board through touch.
Thursday 5th September – Rapid play tournament – this evening tournament is open to all players from in and outside of the club. Aiming for about 5 rounds of 7 minutes with 5 second increments. £5 entry with most of the money going into the prize fund and the club championship trophy up for grabs for the Poole members. More details to follow.
Monday 9th September – Handicap knockout – we should have two handicap semi final knockouts playing at the same day, 12 boards of excellent chess going on.
Monday 16th September – Two Towns match – The traditional curtain raiser for the season. Players from all clubs come down and battle for either Poole or Bournemouth. Usually an excellent night with about 30-40 games being played. Get in touch if you’re able to play, the more the better.
Monday 23rd September – Guess the move – Another guess the move contest. See above for the details.
I hope lots of you are able to attend some or all of the events. If you have any questions then please get in touch.
