Season starts

The first match of the season has been played with Poole A getting a draw in New Milton. Good wins for Mike W and John, I expect some of the intimidating portraits hanging on the walls at their venue put the rest of the team off!

Monday will be the first home game with Poole B hosting Highcliffe. The club is open to all as normal and casual games are still played unaffected by the league, but there’s the added bonus of some quality chess going on that you can spectate and speculate on. The only notes on etiquette is discussing the live games shouldn’t be done anywhere near the games but people are welcome to watch.

It has been an awesome summer with a tournament hosted, some workshops, lots of new members, and regularly over a dozen players coming down. Hopefully there will be a few new players getting league games in the coming weeks, and I hope that everyone will continue coming down throughout the winter and meeting some of the members that hibernate or migrate over summer.
