Poole matches coming thick and fast this week

After a quiet period of 2 weeks we have 4 matches this week for Poole teams.

Last night at Purbeck in Division 3 of the Dorset League our B team of Richie/Simon Patterson/Yours truly/ and Paul Trowbridge went down 1-3 to a Purbeck team that played much stronger than their grades suggest.

On the night we lost on Boards 2 and 4 with Richie and Eric gaining draws. I need to mention despite losing the match it is always a pleasure to play at Purbeck in their very comfortable home club at Mortons Hotel but we were still a dissappointed with the overall result. We will have better nights over the board.

On Thursday at home 28/2 our C team are playing the strong Ringwood A team who came down from the 1st Division last season and this will be a tough match.

Also on Thursday, our E team captained by Christine are playing Highcliffe C and we hope to get a decent result to move us up the table. I am sure it will be a close and tough match.

On Friday 1/3 our A team are playing Southbourne A, good luck to them in their ambition of winning all matches to the end of the season. We are currently in 2nd place 3 points behind Wimborne A with the same number of games played.

I would like to remind all club members to arrange their Club Championship matches as we want to move into the 2nd round during March. It is your responsibility to contact your opponent and arrange a date. If anyone needs contact numbers please ask myself or Chip.

Finally next week we start the 1st Round of the Handicap competition as holders and have been drawn against Ringwood and this match will be played on Wednesday 6/3 at the White Hart in the town centre so all spectators welcome. Dragi is the team captain this year so please help him as much as possible in terms of availability and responses as the teams are made up of 6 players. Good  luck to the team on the night.
