New 2018 -19 season under way with 4 matches played in the first 10 days

As the new season rolls in to week 2  in we have played 4 matches to date. I was amazed to see we will be playing 84 matches in total covering our 10 teams we are fielding on all leagues. This does not include the Knock out Handicap trophy and the other two pre season friendly matches that we completed in successfully.

So our B team kick off the season with an excellent win against a Southbourne A/B team (not sure which) on the first night and recorded a 3.5/0.5 win, great start.

The following Monday (last – 24/9) we had 2 matches at Ringwood, one of which we lost as reported by Chip in the Dorset league and our D team captained by Mike Rutter for the first time (well done Mike) who had a really  good win played on 3 boards due to a Ringwood default. Score was 2.5/0.5

Team was Adam Jaggard/Kyrzstoff Itrich/Mike Rutter.

Our Dorset League B team went to Wimborne 26/9 for their first match and had a satisfying and comfortable draw against a strong Wimborne Team.

So two wins, one draw and one defeat from the first series of matches. All details of individual scores are shown on www.dorset chess site and on the League Management System (LMS) box. Click on Poole/fixtures/and you can find all details including comments after the match.

This is the best way to catch up on all things Poole chess results/fixtures/stats and this site has replaced the same data from the Dorset web site.

Matches this week are :

Division 3 – Poole D vs Southbourne C – Home

Bacchus League – Poole Bishops vs Wimborne – Home

Division 1 – Southbourne A vs Poole B – Away

The Bacchus League kicks off this Thursday which has been formed to encourage new and inexperienced players whom have not  previously played competitive chess to take part in more than friendly games. Five clubs have submitted teams plus our two, named Bishops and Knights.

We are fielding a team of Juniors from Poole Grammar School for the Bishops with Steve Bailey as the adult player and the Knights with Juniors from Lytchett Minster with Graham Morris as the adult player. Tarik and myself will be captaining these teams in its infancy. All matches are graded over a time control of 1 hour 30 minutes for games.

So Rock and Roll its all going on and we look forward to seeing some great games, competition and some exciting finishes over the next 8 months for so.
