Match and Club News w/c 30 September 2019

This week sees 4 league matches to be played but firstly well done to all teams in a good start to the season with 4 wins/1 draw and just one defeat in the first round of matches this season.

Our A and B teams are playing tonight at Ringwood and Highcliffe respectively. The line-ups are A team – Richard/Martin/John and Richie standing in again for Mike who is on the mend and hopes to play soon. The B team is Chip/David/Sergiu and Dragi both will face very strong opposition tonight.

On Wednesday our Dorset League B team managed by Graham for the 1st time are playing their first game at Wimborne. The Line up is – John/Dragi/Graham and Jamie (Junior) both Graham and Jamie are making their debut in the Dorset League.

On Thursday our Bacchus Bishops mark their first game of the season and true to the policy of last season the team comprises of a total Junior team. Jamie/Josh and Jack all from Poole Grammar school and Dylan playing his first game of the club. Dylan has been playing very well at Bournemouth Library chess club and wants to start playing league chess.

On Tuesday evening we continue with Social chess night at the club which has been well supported so far with 8-10 players coming along to play/review tactics . Tony has been bringing along end game techniques which are useful for us lesser mortals. Please come along if you can and as always are all welcome at the club.

Xmas Party at the Elstead Hotel – 12/12/19 – 4 course Xmas dinner – £24.95.

This year  we are opening up the evening to wives and partners and any special guests you would like to invite. There is no deposit required this year as our credit has been established with the hotel but we would ask you to make payment and place your order by mid November.

I will be at the club this week or text me/e mail and let me know if you are coming (hope so) so we will have an idea of numbers.
