Latest news and current league status end April

As we approach the end of the season I thought it would be useful to have an overview of how are teams are doing across leagues and Handicap competitions. Most players might only be aware of the teams they are competing in so enjoy sharing the below with me.

The current status is changing all the times and after last week’s matches where our E team drew, our Poole A Dorset league drew, our D team drew but on Friday night our DL B team won at Southbourne. So overall very satisfactory and its onwards and upwards.

Bournemouth & District League

Divison 1 – Poole A are leading the table, one point ahead with  match remaining.

Poole B have their final match this Friday and are comfortably placed in Division 1 which was always the main goal.

Division 3  –  Poole C are leading the table with two points ahead with one match to play.

Division 4 –  Poole D are in 3rd place, one point behind with 2 matches to play. Poole E are in 2nd place, one point behind with one match to play.

Division 5 – Poole F have their final match of the season at Highcliffe tonight and comfortably placed with eight points and have progressed very well in the last few months.

Dorset League Division 1 – Poole A are leading the table by one point with one match to play.

Dorset League Division 3 – Poole B are leading the table by 3 points with one match remaining.

Team Handicap – Poole as current holders are in the Final and will be playing Wimborne on 23/5.

Its evident are main opposition to winning the various leagues  are Wimborne so all to play for between now and the  the Final match which will be on the 24/5 which should prove to be an absorbing and exciting conclusion to the end of the season.

Just to mention the final A team matches are being played on the 14/5  (Monday) and the 16/5 (Wednesday)  to avoid fixture congestion so  it would be good to to have some support for these non usual club nights. Please try  and come along and play some social chess and maybe watch the battles commence.

Good luck to all players and whatever the result the chess is exciting and everyone is making a great contribution.
