Friday Club Nights Postponed Due To Latest Govt Guidelines
I am sorry to advise we will have to postpone our proposed Friday night club sessions as a result of the latest Covid-19 guidelines. The rule of ‘6’ makes it impossible to arrange over the board games and at the same time for players of similar grades to compete. In view of the increased level of Covid-19 as reported it is necessary to maintain all guidelines to keep people safe and not encourage any chance of infection.
In addition, the ECF have issued advice on a national level to refrain from over the board chess in clubs until things improve.
This is a great shame as I am aware several club members were keen to re start playing over the board chess. Just to remind you the British Legion is open every Friday and Saturday nights and is open for normal business if you individually wish to visit and of course you can play your own games within the club keeping to the guidelines.
On a brighter note online chess is still active and the team battles continue every 2nd Monday night with the next one due on the 28/9 at 7.30pm. There are additional active online sessions going on from Wimborne club on Tuesday afternoons with a slower time control. Please check the www.dorsetchess web site for more information.
We can resurrect our initial online Thursday sessions if there is a demand from enough players and I hope we can do this as soon as possible, let me know if you would like this and we will arrange.
Please keep in touch and keep safe.
