David Lockwood

It with sadness that I need to report that David passed away  this Wednesday, 21st November 2018. As we know David was suffering with his health and we want our pass on our condolences to his closest relative James and their family.

David was a long standing member of Poole chess club for over 25 years and contributed greatly to the club. He joined the club when Merck Chemical team were disbanded in the early 90’s and joined the reformed Parkstone & Poole chess club which became Poole chess club as we know it today.

David contributed regularly to our various teams and always made an effort to come along to the club every week in all weathers.

He took on the Treasurer’s role and helped me for a couple of years in this capacity. He always supported the club when possible and encouraged juniors to progress.

Personally I will miss his presence at the club and will advise details of the his funeral and arrangements in due course. The club will be sending a wreath to mark our best wishes and respect.
