Club Updates

Our league teams have had mixed fortunes in the last couple of weeks.

Please see www.dorset chess and LMS for details but as an overview recent results are;

C team won 3.5/0.5 at Southbourne in the BDCL Division 3

B team lost 1.5/2,5 to Dorchester C in the Dorset League Division 3

A team lost  1.5/2,5 to Highcliffe in the BDCL Division 1

and tonight 25/1 our Bacchus league team of 3 Juniors plus Steve take on Bournemouth at the Winton Social Club (no tickets available).

We are starting to take names from members who would like to play in the competition with the usual rules applying except a reduction in the time control to 1 hr each which still qualifies for grading. Chip and myself will be contacting you to enter and hoping as many members including our new ones will join. The event will start in February and run through to end of May. Details and the draw will be published separately.

COVID UPDATE from Martin Simons
Following the UK government update last week … ‘From Thursday 27th January face coverings are no longer required by law in any setting. Public health guidance will remain in place, suggesting individuals should continue to wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces, where you may come into contact with people you do not normally meet.’

This applies to our local league chess club settings.

Congratulations to Harry and Zander whom both  scored really  well in the online event last Saturday and contributed to the team success of beating Devon, Hampshire & Berkshire. Great stuff! Harry had a winning sequence of winning games and amassed 33 points – on the up!

Happy chessing!
