Club Updates and 4NCL weekend

CLUB CHAMIONSHIP

Chip kicked off the event win a win last Thursday against Sergiu (welcome back) and set the ball rolling for our 1st Round matches. Can I ask you to arrange your match as soon as possible as we have several league fixtures at the club so please look at LMS to see if there is availability of space and of course we can play in the bar if needed. Feel free to  arrange games outside of club nights either at the club or at any other venue.

BDCL/DORSET LEAGUE MATCHES

The matches are coming thick and fast now and last night our Dorset league B team consisting of Andy/Tim/Zander and Leo had a creditable 2-2 at Wimborne (report to follow).

Tonight there are 2 matches at the club so another full house at the club but we can use either the middle room or the bar for social matches. Looking at LMS/Fixtures for Poole every Thursday is committed for matches until April so competitive matches are full on but we encourage all other members that come down and play social chess and keep in touch – as they say – Open All Hours!

Good luck to our A and D teams tonight.

You can keep up to date with all our results and player statistics on LMS, this is the best way to see how our fellow members and teams are doing.

4NCL  DIVISION 3 SOUTH THIS WEEKEND AT WINDSOR

The 2nd round of matches are taking place this weekend and we are proud and pleased that we have a Poole team taking part. There was a little scare in that we were a player short but Dragi (Don’t offer me a draw) stepped in to make the team up at short notice – well done Mr Popovic!

We wish Captain John and the team  Chip/David/Mike/Richie and Dragi the best of luck and have a great time.

HANDICAP KNOCK OUT COMPETITION

The BDCL are planning to start the competition some time in March so we be entering a team as usual and with a proud record of 3 titles in 5/6 years we hope to do well. Just to remind you this is a selected team of 6 players combining of all grades up to a maximum average. It is important to select players playing about or above their grade and its good fun. Chip has agreed to be captain and we look forward to it. I/Chip will let you details of the draw and rules nearer the time.

FACILITIES/COVID

Its good news the situation is improving but we still all need to be careful and respect our visitors by keeping ventilation going in the room and creating enough air in between heat from the boards. Could team captains ensure wipes and sanitisers are offered to all every time.

In the meantime, good luck with your games and see you at the club.
