That was the week that was (TWTWTW) for those more mature folks that may remember, with 3 wins and a draw in 4 league matches last week. Special mention to Tim Joyce who played on 3 consecutive nights in 3 different leagues with a 50% score of 0, 1/2, and a 1 ! (is this a club record). And Andy Matko who played in two consecutive nights on Wednesday and Thursday winning both matches – well done gentlemen.

This week there are 2 matches – tonight, an important Bacchus league match at Highcliffe (mostly kids + Kyzrzstoff when our team share top spot with Southbourne & Highcliffe –¬† all with 7 points.

On Thursday night our C team have the host billing again to to try and get further ahead in Division 3 – currently topping the table but still tough matches ahead.

Good luck to both our teams this week  and I want to mention having a much wider selection of players for each team by dropping 2 teams in the 1st Division and 4 league teams vs 5 from last season has made a real difference and greater wiggle room in selection of players.

MAJOR – Chip beat Sergiu, Martin beat David.

INTERMEDIATE – Kyrzstoff beat Tarik.

MINOR – Zander beat Paul

I know some matches have been arranged this week but we want to play all Round 1 ones by the end of next week so please arrange to play your opponent even at another venue if more suitable so we do not delay others that are waiting to play the 2nd Round.

It would be really good and in place to develop a club logo especially for 4NCL and other events which the club can be universally recognised.

Some great ideas/captions are on our club What ‘s app chat site and we should share these with others and take a vote on the most popular. Anyone that has ideas for a club logo please send them in or post on to the What’s app site and we will take it forward and arrange some prints etc.

Just to confirm we can always use the bar area for analysis and socials as usual instead of the middle landing room as the NRSC wish to charge for this room. However, it should suit some of our members for obvious reasons and I think we would certainly be in the top three for this activity alone.

Happy Chessing!
