Club Championship and other news

Congratulations to Richie whom is our first winner of the season in the Intermediate section of the club championship.

Richie who won the Minor section last season this time around beat Adam, Mike Rutter, and Simon Patterson to take the trophy – major players watch out next season!

This coming Thursday 13/6 Graham is playing Tony in the Minor section semi-final and the winner plays Christine in the Final – no pressure then!

In the Major section both Mike whom is the current champion is playing Chip who had an excellent win last Thursday knocking out John W. This game is scheduled for Thursday week 20/6.

In other news, you will all now by know the club has decided to stay as you were after a flattering offer from Bournemouth Club to merge. All the details of this decision will be advised at the AGM on the 4/7.

Chip will be shortly compiling names and organising the club Summer Cup – he will explain details and format.

During the summer months we plan to make the club as active as possible and encourage all our members to come down and play chess. We plan to have a chess clinic by John/Mike one evening,  and to also introduce new Juniors  with existing ones to play and organise a date for a Junior night. Last year you were really supportive and had a entry of at least 16 members. The evening was a success and we received an influx of new Junior members both of which did exceedingly well in the Bacchus league.
