A flurry of games

So far this season the games have come faster than the match reports. The of note are Poole D Vs Wimborne, Poole E Vs Poole F and Highcliffe Vs Poole Bishops. As an extra bonus, there was the club handicap knockout against Yeovil in Dorchester.

Poole D, in Division 4 faced a stronger than anticipated Wimborne team. With Tim, Simon F, Mike R and Simon P it seemed like we had every chance, but Wimborne started the season faster and Poole had to settle for a lone draw for Simon F from four matches.

The next match guaranteed points for Poole as Oleksii played his first match for the club and gained a win with it, also wins for the returning Tony P and Harry. Dave B brought the match to a close with a draw against Harshal. Poole E got off to a good start but Poole F looks like a good team and will enjoy success soon.

Then there’s the Bacchus league. Bailey played his first game for the club, and was joined by Mr Bailey and Jonathan. Jonathan got the win but the other boards had some interesting games and good experience gained.

The club knockout against Yeovil, due to the teams fielded, Poole needed 5.5 out of 6. No pressure! The team of Nick, Mike D, John W, Chip, Martin O and Tim managed to get 100% and go to the next round! Well done on an amazing result.

That leaves a couple of games waiting to report. Dorset League Division 1 started at Highcliffe and Poole D are back in action away to Bournemouth, more on those in due time!
