3 matches for Poole teams this week

On Wednesday 6th March we start our defence of the Handicap Knock out trophy at Ringwood.

This year Dragi has kindly offered to organise and captain the team which is a match over 6 boards on a formulated handicap system that evens out the grades and its an excellent system of making all the matches competitive and produces many thrilling finishes.

We have a very proud record in this competitionĀ  over the last few years and we hope to continue with this record for this years competition.

At the time of writing, the probable team I am told is Mike/David/Dragi/Adam/Seth and Chris Ambrose. As always it will be a tough match and Ringwood will provide very stiff opposition.

For those who wish to go along its at the White Hart Pub in the High Street at Ringwood and the match starts at 7.30 pm.

The following night on Thursday 7/3 our Poole Knights play Bournemouth in the Bacchus League. The team organised by Tarik and are made up of students from Lytchett Minster Comprehensive school are doing really well in the inaugural season. They are joined by Venna Pluempe a 6th Form student who has joined the club and we wish her well and the team in the match.

On Friday night our F team take up the boards at Southbourne playing their counter parts F team. The last match was their first win of the season and so we hope to maintain this form on Friday night. The team of Alan (Davies)/Chris Ambrose/Paul Trowbridge and captain Steve Bailey. Good luck on the night.

Whilst writing I hope our members and readers are noting the games being posted by Graham andĀ  the puzzles to test our finishing and tactical ability. If you have not looked at these I would recommend you find a little time as its fun and so enjoyable.
