POOLE AGM HELD 4 JULY 2019
All good from the AGM meeting held last week 4/7/19.
The minutes have been issued now and all details are including so here is a brief summary.
It was good to see so many members attending on the only non-chess night of the year. One sad moment was the mention of David Lockwood who passed away and will be missed.
All officers and captains gave their reports which were well received. There was a change in the committee in that Chip has stood down as secretary as he thought Graham was better placed to support the club on a daily basis. Chip will continue to support the club with his captaincies of the B team and Dorset League A team plus the running of internal club competitions. Tony Pritchard became the club Treasurer replacing Graham.
The club has lost Seth who is giving up chess for a little time, we wish him well and thank him for his contribution to the club over the last 3 years. The good news we have gained 2 new members in Mike Minvalla and Joe Wood, we welcome to the club. There are one/two other impending free transfers who are poised to come in for the season.
The number of teams and players to be allocated will be carried out during July together with the August gradings to define the number of teams for the 19/20 season.
The club is going to introduce a non – league evening which will be every Tuesday from the start of the season. This is to play club championship, friendly games and possible clinics where there is more space and meeting players who are not involved in league games. We hope this works and encourages more chess for a period and call on club members to come on Tuesday evenings when ever possible.
The meeting was held in good spirits and no issues arose so we can all get on with enjoyable and hopefully winning chess.
