Poole A secure their first win of the season at Wimborne
With a slightly under strength team and playing the current champions Wimborne away was not the ideal first fixture of the season. However with Richard Allis marking his club debut and Richie standing in for Mike Duggan our team stood water tight to score a narrow win.
Martin playing on Bd 2 gained a comfortable draw in an open position against Ian Clark fairly early on in the evening. Looking at the three remaining positions they all looked 50/50 but soon after John gained an advantage against Steve Pierson and did enough to force a resignation, excellent win John.
On Bd 4 Richie (146) was holding his own against Mark Littleton (168) and maybe more and despite Mark doing all he could both players agreed the draw. Well played Richie.
On Bd 1 Allan arguably may have had a slight advantage but Richard was comfortable in the position and despite all efforts from Allan another draw was agreed.
So a really good albeit narrow win and well played Richard/Martin/John and Richie. It is only the start of a long season so a long way to go but a great start.
As always we thank Wimborne for their hospitality and another enjoyable night of chess.
Onwards and Upwards to Ringwood on the 30/9.
