Club news and Clinic on the 12 November

After a quiet week but firstly I must congratulate our C team on their 3rd win of the season at home last Thursday versus an under graded Highcliffe team.

This week our D team are at home on Thursday and are hoping to maintain their 100% record.

Mike Duggan and John Weatherlake have kindly offered to give a chess clinic on Tuesday 12 November looking at pawn structures and end games.

The last one given by John was enjoyable and successful and I would invite you to come along and enjoy some instruction and advice. I am sure we will have some games afterwards and adjourn to you know where!

Everyone is invited to this our 3rd Xmas at the Elstead Hotel, this time after requests we have the additional company of wives and partners.  For those that have not committed would you please let me know either way if you are coming so I can confirm numbers to the Elstead.

A reminder it is £24.95 per person for a 4 course Xmas dinner and the hotel have again kindly arranged a private room for us. Payment needs to be made by latest end of November. Menus have been posted on a previous notice but I  will get a menu and order form to all members that are coming.

It is the only really social evening where as many members get together in a non chess environment  so I hope you can come along.

Graham has been collecting the fees from you and thanks for those that have paid up so can I remind those that have not paid to arrange payment directly to Graham – not over the bar please and you also need to return your blue membership cards from last year. We plan to make the overall payment to the club by the end of this week in one go to avoid any getting lost as in previous years.

Any problems with this please contact either Graham or myself.

Our additional chess night has been well supported and we are averaging about 10- 12 members and others every Tuesday.  So can I remind members if you have time and want to play social chess or look at tactics or need help reviewing previous games this is the time to come.
