Poole E win keeps the team top of Division 5 Table

In the away match against Bournemouth C last night, Poole E were again the victors (having played and beaten the same team in the last match of the year at home in December).

Joe Wood was first to finish, achieving a creditable draw with his opponent, Paul Bland, a player graded 114. Chris Roberts (me!) then managed to beat Matt Austin (c105). Matt missed spotting the pin which allowed Chris to win a rook and that was really game over. (Matt, some will remember, used to be a Poole Chess Club member but now plays nearer to home and is father to a one year old.) Ted Paul, after travelling to the match from Weymouth, beat Derek Jones and the last match to finish saw Mike Minvalla achieve a draw with John Harrison.

The final score was 3 – 1 in Poole’s favour. So well done to the team and let’s hope we can keep up the winning form through the rest of the season.
